Eco entrepreneurs, looking for business funding, will be pitching their innovative environmental ideas to Business ‘Angel’ investors at a one-off SpeedFunding™ event (a similar concept to Speed Dating) on 21 June 2010 in Winsford, Cheshire.

Innovas Solutions and Angels Den, with the support of Envirolink Northwest, have joined forces to bring together six dynamic eco companies from the North West with a number of potential investors who are interested in this fast developing sector.

Angels Den has one of the largest networks of High Net Worth individuals (known as Angel investors) in the UK and connects entrepreneurs and companies that need funding with potential investors. Innovas Solutions are leading specialists in supporting the public and private sectors in the low carbon, renewable energy and environmental sectors.

Innovas Solutions Ltd is specialised in providing support to both the public and private sectors in the low carbon, renewable energy and environmental sectors. It is currently working with the department of Business Industry and Skills, providing highly detailed market intelligence which has been used to develop UK national strategies and action plans, as well as numerous regional and sub regional partners providing more practical support to develop the sector.

“We have joined forces to showcase six excellent eco energy companies,” says Keith Wardle, Managing Director, Innovas Solutions, ”These have all been screened and validated by Innovas and have been selected for their potential to succeed and provide good investment returns.

“Green entrepreneurs are struggling to attract even the funding necessary to prove the capability of their technologies because investors are lacking detailed market intelligence and data.”

Innovas Solutions Ltd and Angels Den have combined to provide an integrated package which uses the best market intelligence available for the low carbon and environmental sectors; supports companies in preparing themselves correctly for their meetings with potential investors; and removes much of the risk for the investors from the process.

“The environmental sector is a fast-growing sector of the economy which is urgently responding to the critical environmental challenges facing our world,” says Bill Morrow, founder of Angels Den. “SpeedFunding™ is a quick and simple way to ensure that the best eco ideas get funded and succeed. Unlike Dragon’s Den, it is not intimidating for entrepreneurs as they are able to engage with the Angel investor. We are not looking to slay any entrepreneurs at Angels Den!

“As well as holding SpeedFunding™ events across the UK we are also holding events in Singapore and expanding to Hong Kong and Malaysia and we are finding a great deal of interest there for companies offering eco solutions,” says Bill Morrow.

90% of entrepreneurs, on average, gain interest from at least one Angel and some have as many as ten from a single SpeedFunding™ event.

The six eco companies have each developed innovative solutions to some of the key environmental issues facing the global markets at the moment:

  • A process to convert waste hot air and heat to electricity on site
  • Technology to identify and grade multiple types of plastic waste using an on line process which will reduce testing times and provide higher levels of accuracy in identifying plastic waste mixes
  • A more energy and time efficient method of producing glycerine of different grades which will lead to lower production costs
  • Biomass heating and energy systems utilising feedstock such as poultry waste
  • A patented process of converting waste to biofuels of different grades on a large scale industrial level
  • A novel combined heat and power system that can be used domestically, as well in industry, and will show substantial reductions in cost from current systems
