Do you notice that many corporations make use of product catalogs for their promotional tools? Don’t you ever ask why it is so? It is simply because print ads are highly effective for the purpose.
Women love to shop. No doubt about it. They like to see the current fashions for themselves, try on clothes, and rummage through stores for some good finds. But if a shop can’t bring women in, why not bring the shop to them?
Catalogs are a great way to bring the products to customers if the customers can’t go to them. They are also a great marketing tool for convincing women to shop. Although shopping is considered therapy for some, looking at apparels through catalogs also works wonders. The clothes, if taken professionally and placed correctly on the catalog’s pages, pull in women. Just like magazines, catalogs make great “reading” materials for women.
Clothes on catalogs are commonly a preview of the latest or emerging styles from a company, which is a good attraction for those who love fashion. They would be able to get the latest fashion even before it hits the store.
While most females don’t have trouble shopping for dresses, it’s not correct for men. Ever wonder how Victoria’s Secret started? A man named Roy Raymond started the company in 1977 because he was ashamed to buy intimate apparels for his wife in a department store environment. And while he opened physical stores, he also promptly followed it with a mail-order catalog so those who couldn’t or didn’t want to go to his store would still be able to browse items through catalogs. So there you have it. Catalogs worked for men then, they still work for men now.
That’s not all. Clothes catalog makes men pay notice. Catalogs about hardware tools, car pieces and accessories, and electronic gadgets get men’s attention, true, but so do their physical store counterparts. A man can spend time in a hardware shop or car accessories store, but a man won’t linger any longer than required inside a clothing store. If a man needs a white shirt, he will go directly to a shop in the mall that sells white shirt and leave as soon as he buys one. But for a woman, if she needs a white shirt, she will comb the whole shopping center and enter several shops that sell it before she purchases one, and most likely, a whole lot of other things]items as well before leaving the shopping mall.
Therefore, a clothing brand needs to bring all its garments to him. A catalog will do the trick. A man will be pulled in to look at the other items as well, which may lead him to purchase one or two more items.
Catalogs are also useful in attracting new clients. Some people don’t enter a boutique they are not familiar with. Even if the boutique has a new line of items that they may interest them, they won’t know about it since they won’t trouble themselves to find out. There are also some who want to look around inside a shop but are concerned that they won’t be able to afford the items.
If presented in a correct way, catalogs are a great help for clothing brands. A quality catalog should have full info of the product, including a professionally taken and set image. An appealing layout is also significant. A catalog’s success depends on whether people would want to flip through its pages. And that can be reached when the catalog is interestingly crafted to start with.
Catalogs are just what a brand needs to hook store patrons. Those who don’t know anything about the shop might find products that interest them through a catalog. And those who have questions will get answers as catalogs have complete info posted, including the garment’s available colors, sizes, materials, and price.
