Collage artists possess outrageous visualization, creativity and a perspective that not a lot of people posses. While studying how to make a collage, the simplest way to start is to select the materials you would like to use. Anything that you can stuff together to form an artwork could be called a collage. There are many prominent collage artists that happen to be well known in the modern art community like Pablo Picasso and George Braque, Max Ernst, Hannah Hoch and Romare Bearden.
Pablo Picasso and George Braque were definitely the two original contemporary collage artists, while there are a few people within the art community, who claims both gentlemen were definitely one of the first collage designers to be identified. Spanish artist Pablo Picasso and Cubist painter George Braque each dabbled into collage art during the year 1181-1973. Both began designing collages in almost the same time while working together. Picasso’s collages involve Still Life with a Chair Caning and Man having a Guitar. Braque’s collages were Fruit Dish and Glass and Violin and Pipe.
Max Ernst was a German painter, sculptor, graphic artist and a poet. He had basically no formal training in arts but grew to become famous collage artists. In 1919 Ernst visited his friend Paul Klee and made paintings, block prints and collages, and tried using blended media. His collages involve Le Limacon de Chambre (1920) and The Postman Ceval (1932).
Man Ray also called as Emmanuel Radintzky was an American collage artist who invested most of his career in Paris. Best known in the art world for his avant-garde images, Man created major works in many different mediums and regarded himself a painter. Much like his colleagues Man also discovered his skills and has become famous for his collage arts such as Involute and The Revolving Doors (1916-1917), a selection of ten collages.
Hannah Hoch was the very first designer to create a photomontage. She was the first female social activists who centered her art on identical sex couples, and women were once again a main concept in her own work style. She created solid statements on racial inequity. Among her collages are Hochfinanz, Equilibre and Made for a Party (1923 -1936).
Romare Bearden an American collage expert who was raised in Harlem right after his family left North Carolina seeking more opportunities. He has been a privileged man with college education. Besides artwork, Bearden became a composer, a cartoonist, social worker, a writer and also a civil rights activist. His collages include Pittsburg Memory, Return of the Prodigal Son as well as the Calabash (1964-1970).
Collage artists are those who have the interest for arts and visionary to construct their thoughts, behavior and ideas using a canvas or paper filled with other objects or images. You might be amazed to discover just how many designers that are recognized for other art channels have dabbled in collage. Their artwork may also motivate you to try out fresh approaches and new concepts in your collage work.
We often put the words “boring” and “artwork” together but collage artists will change how you think about art. Mixed media paintings can demonstrate the wonders of mixed media art that a lot of us has yet to learn. Unleash the inner Picasso in you.
